9 Empowering Tips: Week 7 – The Real Deal

The Real Deal – Your Body Needs Rich Nutrients from Food

Here is the REAL DEAL, the food we put in our mouth has consequences. We can’t live on sweets (those delicious desserts we all love) day after day, and expect it is not going to impact our health.  Our body needs rich nutrients from “Real Food” to keep it running smoothly year after year. These rich nutrients come from a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Here is a list of what we at Farm Girl Fresh consider to be real food: locally grown fruits and vegetables from a Farmer’s Market; a CSA share from a local farmer; fresh produce from our gardens or coops; grass-fed beef; wild caught fish; eggs from free-range chickens (without antibiotics); raw honey; maple syrup; food free of additives and preservatives.

Now take a look at your weekly grocery list and see what food you are about to purchase. Does the food on your list meet the “Real Food” requirements? One way to determine this is by reading food labels. Does the ingredient list on the grocery item include additives or preservatives?

And now the biggest question, are you ready to start making some small changes? If so, change out one item per week that does not meet the “Real Food” requirements.  In just a few short months, you will be on your way to eating pure, whole food.
