Asparagus Dipping Sticks

I love all the delicious ways to make asparagus, including this recipe for Asparagus Dipping Sticks – one of our favorites! Served plain or dipped in our pizza sauce, they’re a tasty (and healthy) addition to any occasion.

If you are looking for a vegetable that packs a nutritious punch, asparagus is a great candidate. It provides vitamins K, B, A, C and E as well as folate, potassium and zinc. The folate helps your body produce neurotransmitters that may support your mood, and studies have shown that eating asparagus may also help lower your blood pressure. Asparagus is also good for digestive health—it contains a natural soluble fiber (inulin) that’s considered a prebiotic which feeds the good bacteria in your gut.  Pretty impressive stats for this tall and skinny vegetable, huh?!  I think I’m going to eat asparagus every day while it’s in season!


1 pound asparagus, washed and trimmed
1 egg
3/4 cup almond flour
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning (page 125)
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 450°F. Whisk egg in a pie plate. Mix almond flour, Italian seasoning, salt, garlic powder and cheese in another bowl.

Dip the asparagus into the egg and then into the flour mixture, coating evenly.

Lay asparagus on a cooling rack that has been placed on a rimmed baking sheet. Arrange so they’re not touching. Bake 20 minutes until golden.
