Our grandchildren love to do craft projects when they come to visit. This Christmas tree craft out of scrapbook paper was a fun one. It is the perfect holiday project! It’s easy, it requires minimal supplies, and it doesn’t take hours to create these paper trees.
I had so much fun watching (and helping) the kiddos create these little trees and seeing their personal creativity in selecting the different papers to use in this project.

And while I consider this to be a great memory maker with my grandchildren – it didn’t go without tears shed (I guess that is a memory maker too). One little tree didn’t stand up straight like the rest—oh dear. But even with a few tears, a few tissues, and encouraging words from cousins, we had a lot of fun creating these unique little Christmas trees!

CHRISTMAS TREE CRAFT
Supplies needed:
1 wooden spool (2 inches in diameter x 1/2 inch thick w/tiny hole in middle)
8 sheets scrapbook paper
1 green pipe cleaner
19 clear beads w/holes
1 glue gun
Glue sticks
Scissors
Directions:
Place small amount of hot glue in middle hole of wooden spool and put pipe cleaner through hole.
Add 4 clear beads to pipe cleaner.
Cut one circle 4-1/2 inches in diameter from sheet of scrapbook paper and punch small hole in center of circle. Fold circle in 1/2, in 1/2 again, and again. This will make creases in the paper to give it a crinkled look.

Place circle on pipe cleaner. Add 2 clear beads to pipe cleaner. Repeat with a circle cut from another sheet of scrapbook paper 4 inches in diameter.

Punch small hole in center and fold circle in 1/2 three times and place on pipe cleaner. Add 2 clear beads to pipe cleaner. Repeat these steps with circles 3-1/2 inches in diameter, 3 inches in diameter, 2-1/2 inches in diameter, 2 inches in diameter, 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 1-1/4 inches in diameter. Place 2 clear beads between each circle on pipe cleaner except top circle, place 1 bead. Cut pipe cleaner to desired height and finish off with final two beads on top.
